Ryan Braun slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at the ballpark as the Detroit
Iron Gloves beat the Tampico Stogies by the count of 12 to 8.
Braun had a big day at the plate. He cleared the fences for a two-run home
run in the 1st inning and smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 7th of the
season) in the 5th inning. Tampico made it exciting in the 9th, but they
were unable to push the needed runs across.
The winning pitcher was Homer Bailey(1-0) who allowed 5 runs in 7 and 1/3
innings. Ted Lilly(4-4) absorbed the loss. With this win, Detroit has a
17-21 record. They have been 5-5 lately. Tampico has a record of 17-21,
worst in the division after the loss.
